Abstract

At the beginning of 2007, the Group for Study and Research in Education and Philosophy (GEPEF), coordinated by Pedro Pagni, began to be establish an approach with the researcher Dr. Fernando Bárcena from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. What motivated this contact was the research on common themes in the area of Philosophy of Education, with very similar approaches. In 2008 Dr. Pagni did a postdoctoral study under Dr. Bárcena's supervision and participated in research activities, attended courses and especially his research group. Since then they have increasingly narrowed this contact and exchanged experiences. To mention some examples of that contact, in 2008, Dr. Bárcena participated as the president of the organizing committee in the II International Symposium on Philosophy and Education, which was organized by the Group for Study and Research in Education and Philosophy and, in 2009, he came to UNESP in Marília and Presidente Prudente as a visiting professor. Besides having a major role in research activities at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Dr. Bárcena, is internationally known in the area in focus, with articles and books, which express the results of their research on topics like body, childhood and exclusion, which touch on the issue of relations between aesthetics, ethics and education. These themes and issues investigated by the Spanish researcher have also been the subject of studies by researchers and students from GEPEF and from the line of research Philosophy and History of Education in the Graduate Studies Program in Education of UNESP in Marília. Therefore, the coming of the researcher as a visiting professor at our institution would be, more than opportune, necessary for the research developed at our institution and for the study of a possible agreement in this area with their home university.
