Abstract
We propose to investigate a number of research problems relevant to the analysis of data from gravitational wave experiments such as resonant spherical detectors, space-based interferometers, and pulsar timing. Our proposed work is particularly timing since: (i) the Brazilian resonant spherical detector/Mario Schenberg" (Universidade de Sao Paulo (USP) & Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE)) is expected to start its rst scientic run by the end of 2011; (ii) in 2012 members of the radio astronomy group at INPE are planning to track a selected number of pulsars in collaboration with people from the Radio Astronomy Observatory in South Africa in order to test a novel operational configuration to search for gravitational radiation; and (iii) the system studies work I have been doing during the last six months, in collaboration with the gravitation wave group at I.N.P.E., in 2012 will reach a level of maturity that will make it quite relevant to the development of currently envisioned space-based interferometer missions. The year I will spend at INPE will allow me to more closely continue my collaboration with members of the Gravitation and Radio Astronomy groups, and contribute to their research activities on these topics. Furthermore I will have the opportunity to engage several graduate students and give a graduate course on gravitational wave data analysis at the 2012 INPE graduate school in Astrophysics. (AU)
