Abstract

Working in collaboration with the Veterinary Medicine and Surgery Graduate Programs of the FCAV/UNESP by giving lessons in a Graduate's class called "Special Topics in Equine Metabolic Disorders" from July 16-20 of 2012. It is intended, on the 07/21, with the Equine Sports Medicine Research Group, to develop a protocol of laminitis induction by euglycemic hiperinsulinemic means. Along with the same research group, for the next two days, she will be accompanying and helping the development of a research project named "Evaluation of the equine laminitis prodromic phase by dorsal transmural biopsy of hoof dermal and epidermal tissues", funded by CNPq (process no 483958/2010-7). At this time, some of the methodologies and evaluations regarding the laminitis induction associated with insulin resistance will be discussed. On the 25th, she will discuss with the group the results obtained from current research projects such as "Metabolic and inflamatory response in horses submitted to resistance exercise", funded by Fapesp no 2010/09161-9 and "Relationship of plasma concentration of angiotensin converting enzime (ACE) and performance of arabian horses undergoing long term exercise", funded by Fapesp no 2011/15341-2, in order to plan future research that we intend to do together. On July 26th, an institutional talk will be given to undergraduate and graduate students about the Colorado State University; the aim of this talk is to establish agreements and externships. It is intended that on July 27th, the professor will join a Master Certification Board of the graduate student Ana Maria Guerreiro Braga da Silva, Fapesp scholarship no 2010/14373-5, closing the visit to the FCAV/UNESP.
