Abstract

This project's main objective is to use the expertise of Professor Dr. MarcosAurelio Gonzalez Alvarez from the University of Seville (Spain), in the development ofthe installations of the "Radioactive Ion Beams in Brazil" (Ribras) system, University of São(USP).Specifically, the visiting professor will collaborate in the setup and operation of a newdetection system, acquisition and analysis of experimental data with a view to future theoretical analyzes of nuclear reactions involving exotic nuclei produced in lineExperimental Ribras. Ribras is coupled to tandem accelerator of 8 MV,installed in Open Laboratory of Nuclear Physics (LAFN) of the Institute of Physics of theUniversity of São Paulo. The plan of this work consists in tasks that can be divided in:1. Installation and testing of a detection system based on silicon detectors pixelated(Si) DSSSD (Double Sided Silicon Strip Detector), of large area (50mm x 50mm)manufactured by the company Micronsemiconductors Ltda., UK. The detectors were acquired in the laboratory and are in the laboratory ready to be installed;2. Installation and testing of the analog and digital electronic for the processing andacquisition of the signals originated from the pixelated silicon detectors.3. Installation and testing of the data acquisition system based on the MIDAS program(Multi Instance Data Acquisition System);4. Perform the first measurements and analysis of experimental data of nuclear reactionswith exotic nuclei produced by the system Ribras, and measured with the new system.5. Theoretical calculations of reactions with exotic nuclei. (AU)
