Abstract

Many differences are known when comparing the expression of several proteins in the endometrium of women with endometriosis with that of healthy . This study aims to identify differences in gene expression when comparing the endocervical epithelium of women with the diagnosis of deep endometriosis with women without the disease. The purpose is the establishment of a non-invasive test for the diagnosis of endometriosis. The routes to be studied are somehow regulated by progesterone, since we know of the existence of resistance to this hormone in women with endometriosis. We highlight the ways that refer to the cell cycle, cytokine and dendritic cells production, as both have shown to be important in the genesis of the disease. The samples will be collected prior to laparoscopic surgery and, according to the surgical findings, divided into two groups, patients with deep endometriosis and one without evidence of disease (control). Samples will be collected by endocervical brush similar to that used in the collection of cervical cytology, processed and submitted to the analysis of differentially expressed genes. (AU)
