Abstract

Professor Hilary Wainwright's visit aims to establish dialogues with groups of researchers at Unicamp on the theme of changes in the nature and organization of work in the 21st century. These dialogues and the international comparisons on which they will draw should stimulate deeper explorations of key issues such as immaterial labor, gendered inequalities in the organization of labor, informal and casualised work. The international experiences of the researchers -notably Brazil, South Africa and the UK - will help to widen consideration of the variety of ways in which workers are organizing in response to the changing conditions, whether these responses are through trade unions, through forms of solidarity economics or through new kinds of labor organization. In addition to meetings with groups of researchers, the researcher should offer 4 seminars, aimed at graduate students, teachers interested and open to the general public. (AU)
