Abstract

The Faculty of Animal Science and Food Engineering (FZEA) was composed of three Departments, the Department of Basic Sciences (ZAB), the Department of Animal Science (ZAZ) and the Department of Food Engineering (ZEA), until October 30th of the current year. After the department restructuration process, the FZEA now has 5 Departments, added the Department of Biosystems Engineering (ZEB) and the Department of Veterinary Medicine (ZMV). Several research and instruction laboratories, classrooms, administration and faculty members offices are located in these Departments, some of which are in buildings still under construction. The scientific productions, in terms of published papers in indexed journals, have increase annually, with a raise higher than 60% between 2005 and 2012. This dynamism of the FZEA staff, has as a consequence, the continuous increment of the technical institutional overhead, with higher rate of reinforcement between 2008 and 2012, coming to the expressive amount of R$ 659,339.12 in this year of 2012. Therefore, it is necessary to continue assisting the faculty members that are developing those proposals with good framework conditions. Thus, the general aim of this project is the acquisition of equipments and of services demanded by the Departments, to supply the groups and research laboratories, characterized as research oriented. The specific objectives are the acquisition of laboratory equipments; maintenance of the laboratory buildings aiming better accommodation; basic infrastructure adjustments of old facilities which put in risk the safety of several laboratories.
