Abstract

A spinal deformity in scoliosis has instigated the development of many hypotheses focused on genetic, skeletal, myogenic, ortoxic chemical, mechanical or biomechanical, neurohormonal and neurogenic. When we reviewt a literature seeking experimental methods to induce scoliosis in rats, we found few references which are listed below and differentiate this proposal because it is invasive nature basing on intraperitoneally administered beta-aminopropionitrila changing vertebral ligaments, cartilage changes in rat intervertebral; osteolatirismo pharmacological, mechanical separation of the vertebrae, spine trauma, unilateral electrical stimulation; suture the muscles next to the vertebrae; pinealectomy and changes in chondrocytes. The evolution of the knowledge generated by experimental studies can help in early diagnosis knowledge and helping to prevent aesthetic abnormalities, pain and cardiopulmonary complications. In this sense, we developed an experimental methodology that allowed us to study the events stemming from scoliosis without invasiveness. In seeking help minimize changes scoliosis developed a stretching program that was effective in reducing the curvature and recovery quimiometabólica (in press). The purpose of this paper is to apply an orthosis (vest PVC) in rats during the early stages of growth (post-weaning) until the 12th week of life for the induction of scoliosis and then apply a stretching protocol was subsequently performed a morphometric study paravertebral muscles in scoliosis conditions and elongated seeking to increase information to support the application of this methodology stretching in the treatment of scoliosis.
