Abstract

The goal of the project is development of mathematical tools and creation of mathematical model of systems having many interacted elements. In the project, models and methods from the statistical physics will be used for geological and biological problems. In particular, dynamics of the tectonic plates is one of subjects of this project. The model is based on the stochastic dynamics of some point random fields describing a movement of one plate on another with a mechanism of interactions of the plates. Stick and slip behavior of the contacting plates is caused by irregularity of contacting surfaces of the plates. In the framework of this project a new numerical method for solutions of differential equations is proposed. The method is based on annealing algorithm well known in statistical mechanics and widely applied. The method will be used for solutions of differential equations describing propagations of spikes in neuronal networks. (AU)
