Abstract

Preparation of provisional prosthesis is an essential stage inside implant-supported rehabilitation, especially in cases of immediate loading in anterior region rehabilitations. It's important that this prosthesis has to be easy to prepare and has a good resistance to fracture. To use an acrylic resin facet of tooth stock associated to other materials, such as composite resin, is a common way to construct this provisional prosthesis. Thus, we aim to evaluate the effect of different coupling agents and surface treatments on the fracture resistance of implant-supported provisional crowns made with facets of tooth stock in acrylic resin with composite resin to coat the lingual portion. To accomplish our objective, we are going to use seven different groups (n = 10) in function of the tooth surface treatment: (1) Without surface treatment (control), (2) Methyl methacrylate monomer, (3) Metal primer ; (4) aluminum oxide (Al2O3) blasting + Metal primer (5) Al2O3 blasting + Alloy Primer + Methyl methacrylate monomer; (6) adhesive system; (7) Al2O3 blasting + adhesive system. The mechanical test of fracture resistance will be performed by means of universal testing machine MTS 810 (Material Test System, Eden Prairie, MN, USA) and the load will be applied at the middle third of palatine face; between the upper limit of the cingulate and incisal edge, with 30 grades of inclination regarding to the implant long axis. Data obtained will be interpreted with the MTS 810 specific software and subsequently be subjected to statistical analysis. (AU)
