Universality in few-body systems in two and three dimensions

Abstract

In this project we will study the physical observables of three- or more-body systems in the context of atomic traps. We will investigate interesting consequences of some recent results published by our group, to know: (i) what is the pole trajectories of three-body bound states in two dimensions (2D), which disappear when we modify the mass ratio of the atoms of the system? (ii) The momentum distribution of the atoms in a trap changes drastically when we pass from 2D to three dimensions (3D). We will extend the study of the momentum distribution for an AAB system and investigate how this transition between so distinct behaviours happens. (iii) The possibility of "visualization" of the four-body scale should be proportional to the possibility of finding four atoms relatively close enough of each other. This probability is certainly affected by adding a repulsive short-range interaction to the four-atom system. We will perform a systematic study on how this system deviates from universality as this interaction is changed. (iv) We will study the possibility of occurance of Efimov effect in a system composed by three alpha particles. (AU)
