Application graphite/polurethane and graphite/silicon rubber composite electrodes II


In the present research proposal is intended to perform studies with the graphite/poliurethane and graphite/silicon rubber composite electrodes started by our research group some years ago. Now our intention is to use the composites in the determination of substances with pharmacological interest. The pharmaceuticals that will be investigated are captopril, an antihypertensive drug largely used in Brazil and ruthine, a flavonoid with antioxidant and vaso-dilatators properties.For the electroanalytical studies the electrodes will be prepared as mixtures of adequate amounts of graphite and silicon rubber or polyurethane in order to obtain the composition that allows to the better voltammetric response in terms of peak current and mechanical stability. The analytes will be determined in pharmaceutical formulations or in synthetic biologic fluids. The effect of potentially interfering species will also be evaluated And addition recovery tests will be performed and the performance of the proposed methods will be compared with the procedures recommended in the reference literature such as the US Pharmacopea or the Brazilian Pharmacopea.The performance of the graphite polyurethane composites as sensor in flow analysis and as rotating electrodes will also be investigated.
