Abstract

The Composite International Diagnostic Interview 2.1 (CIDI 2.1) is a standard structured questionnaire developed by the OMS that when applied by trained law interviewer generates diagnosis using the diagnostic criteria of the International Classification of Illnesses in its tenth version (ICD-10). It has showed to be a useful tool for clinical studies and epidemiologists in the whole world. The instrument was studied in Brazil. The reliability of the Pos Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) section was excellent (K = 0,99 for lifetime disgnostic and 0,95 for 12-month disgnostic). The validity was not studied. The increase exposition to violence turns the validity study important for PTSD epidemiologic studies. Our objective is to study the concurrent validity of the CIDI 2.1 PTSD section, using the psychiatric diagnosis formulated by experienced psychiatrist as a gold standard. Sixty patients will be selected intentionally all with history of some type of traumatic event, 20 with diagnosis of PTSD, 40 without diagnosis - 20 from a specialized clinic in treatment PTSD and 20 from the community. The interviewers will be blind to the clinical diagnosis. The comparison between the CIDI 2.1 diagnosis and the clinical diagnosis will be made by concorrent validity (sensitivity, especificity, positive, negative preditive value, incorrect classification).
