Abstract

The present study aims to gather information about the public perception of health in the state of Sao Paulo in order to obtain subsidies for the development of public policies for the Unified Health System (in Portuguese, SUS). Data will be collected through a survey conducted throughout the State of Sao Paulo, with a questionnaire with closed and semi-enclosed questions, which will be applied to a sample of about 1500 people stratified by sex and economic class. The methodological basis of the survey follows the work already done for nearly a decade by Lajor/Unicamp, along with other institutions of Iberoamerica, in public understanding of science and technology (in which the subject of health is inserted). The results of this study enable the formulation of strategies for scientific communication and dissemination of health, in order to promote greater dissemination of knowledge about the issue among the population, and also to strengthen the management system in the area.
