Sexual behaviors and practices, access to prevention, prevalence of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections among gay men, transvestites and men who have sex with men (MSM) in the central region of Sao Paulo

Abstract

In Brazil, HIV prevalence among MSM is higher than the general population. This research is proposed in response to the São Paulo State Plan to Combat the Epidemic of AIOS and STOs among gay men, MSM and Transgender, as part of the Pact for Health. Objectives: to assess the prevalence of HIV infection, sexual behaviors and practices and access to HIV prevention among MSM who in the central region of São Paulo. This investigation will use a venue-based Time-Location Sampling method (TLS), which aims to describe a representative sample of the attendees of the spaces selected. Locations are mapped through ethnographic observation. This study intends to provide subsidies to qualify the prevention, surveillance and control of HIV among MSM under the Unified Health System.
