Nonlinear dispersive evolution equations and applications

Abstract

We are concerned with three main issues in the theory of nonlinear dispersive equations: (a) existence of traveling waves, (b) stability/instability of traveling waves, and (c) local well-posedness and global behavior of solutions. The project is inserted in a new field of research and its main contribution lies on the understanding of the dynamics governed by dispersive evolution equations. We will employ techniques from classical analysis to recent developments in modern harmonic analysis. (AU)
