Abstract

This proposal is to request a support to bring to Brazil the visiting researcher Prof. Dr. Ioan D. Marinescu from University of Toledo, Ohio, USA. It is expected to set up a working group that will participate in the implementation of the technique in the Department of Mechanical Engineering FEB-UNESP, specifically LATUS (Laboratory of Machining Materials). In a first step it will be discussed the key aspects of the technique of obtaining super finishing material surfaces through ELID (Electrolytic In-Process Dressing) and nanogrinding technologies. Understanding these technologies will help us to elaborate a research project to be developed at the department and soon submitted to this financial agency. These technologies have been applied to specific machining processes and restricted to a few research centers in the developed countries and often considered strategic knowledge. It is expected that this collaboration will evolve in obtaining knowledge on the technique of ultraprecision surface finishing. (AU)
