Abstract

This project aims at developing a comparative and collaborative approach to Visual Anthropology between researchers working in two different sites. This research project will simultaneously develop two main strategies: (1) Comparison. Researchers will create opportunities of exchanges during which they will share, compare and comment on each of their methodological and theoretical approaches, and (2) Collaboration. Researchers will conjointly conceptualize and produce an ethnographic film and/or audio-visual text. Such a comparative and collaborative approach to Visual Anthropology has the potential to open innovative avenues of research not only at the University of Victoria (UVic) and the University of São Paulo (USP) but also among visual anthropologists interested in issues of collaborative work and filmmaking in Anthropology.
