Abstract

The MAX phases are reported to be hexagonal with space group P63/mmc which are isomorphs to the Cr2AlC compound and represent a new solid class so called nanolaminate. These materials have common chemical formula M2AX where M is a transition metal, A an A-group element, and X is C and/or N. these materials are like others superconductors materials electronic and crystallographic point of view, as MgB2 and the High Temperature Superconductors - HTS. In the last years the proposer and co-authors have shown superconductivity in the MAX materials. In 2012 Eklund et al. showed a new ternary compound of the Nb2GeC stoichiometric. It is known that the properties these materials has a dependence as sintering method dependence. Then, this work a study about the microwave sintering in the nanolamiated carbide superconductors will shown. The compound will be characterized by X-ray diffraction in order to determine the kinetic of phase formation as well Rietvel methods analysis will done. The morphology and microstructure will do by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Transport properties will characterize by electrical resistivity, magnetization and heat capacity as a function of temperature. Finally, due to the fact there is vast carbide family will be made audacious attempt to produce a new compound such as Nb2GeN phase. (AU)
