Abstract

In this project we intend to develop several aspects of Finsler geometry and its generalizations, through a systematic use of the Chern connection and the Cartan tensor. These objects are naturally associated to quadratic Finsler structures on manifolds. More specifically, we will study the following themes: (1) Isometries and Killing fields; (2) Finsler space-times; (3) Finsler submersions; (4) Polar Finsler foliations. (AU)
