This project includes the study and development of mathematical models applied to insect control. We will study the spatio temporal dynamics of Diabrotica speciosa, a pest of many crops throughout Central America and South America. Because the development of this insect depends on different hosts, we can use landscape ecology to control it. Using the formalism of cellular automata and clustering techniques we aim to build different mosaics and measure the influence of the spatial distribution in the persistence, spread and control of this insect.
