Analysis of the global models of urban communication from concept of SmartCity: comparison between the cities of Barcelona (ESP) Celebration (USA) and Songdo (KOR)

Abstract

This project contemplates three cities in three continents - Barcelona (SP), Celebration (USA) and Songdo (KOR) - which intend to be models or paradigms of contemporary urban living. The choice of such cities is due to the fact that, through them, we believe it is possible to observe and analyze what we indicate as global models of urban communication, understanding this concept as communication processes ( readings in their media ) of the constitution of the city. The initial hypothesis intends to respond whether global models of urban communication are assurance of or allow the creation of a cultural identity in places, as the concepts that define the cities to the world - as Smartcity, Informational City , Knowledge City etc. - tend to be incorporated into the daily living of people of these cities as further information processed and / or assumed. Another plan for understanding these global models is the fact that they are considered U-Cities (Ubiquitous Cities) , i.e. cities where interoperability standards permit the use of various communication technologies and information (e-services) to distribute and receive meaningful data to its inhabitants generating the U -life , considered by some as a fully monitored life. We will be supported in our study and previous research on Celebration and Barcelona and deepening investigations in Songdo by authors such as Lee and Oh , Jackson , Gardner and Wainwright . Other authors who complete the reflection flamework on the issues are Santos, Flusser, Moreira, Sassen, among. (AU)
