Abstract

The discussion about the impacts of the Food System in (post-)modernity strengthened mainly by identifying risk factors for non-communicable diseases, such as reduced intake of fruits and vegetables. Thus, the nutrition recommendation on promote their intakes for the health benefits brings another challenge: to balance to the risks and uncertainties arising from the presence of pesticide residues. Toxic metals also deserve attention because of the association with these pesticedes and the presence in the environment as a result of several production systems. Researches conducted with the mother-child group has described the presence of xenobiotics in human milk samples, such as DDT, mercury and lead. Thus, the aim of this project is to identify the pesticides residues, toxic metals and their determinants, in human milk from women donors bank of the Santa Casa de Misericordia, Limeira city, São Paulo. We also intend to conduct risk communication and to know the social representations of these women regarding the presence of these contaminants in human milk. Two hundred 100 lactating women will be recruted. Interviews will be conducted with the application of sociodemographic, food consumption, vulnerability, food security questionnaire. The human milk samples will be analyzed by GC, MEV and Ekomilk. From recorded interviews will be held the analysis of discourse to the social representations, and if appropriate risk communication will be done with the public sector of the city. (AU)
