Abstract

This project has the objective to study Micro-Exon Genes and their protein products that are found in the host-parasite interface. We will perform experiments to understand the interaction of PCM (Proteins coded by MEGs) with human proteins and cells. Previous results obtained by our group demonstrated that PCMs are involved in erythrocyte hemolysis, as well as the interaction with proteins from human lymphocytes. In addition, we will continue bioinformatic studies trying to understand the evolution of MEG genic structure. (AU)
