Abstract

This project aims to undertake analyses of physical performance (measurements, technical inspections) and to verify the physical organization of libraries located in museums, in order to detect which are the key elements related to procedures for quality management of the design process and preparation of guidelines for future projects, proposing recommendations on technical and functional issues. The proposal of the evaluation focuses on three collections, namely, Bauru Railway Museum, Companhia Paulista de Jundiaí Museum and Sorocabano Railway Museum. That is, the research is part of the procedures and methods of Post-Occupancy Evaluation (POE), aiming to contribute to the understanding of libraries in museums, under the functional point of view, offering subsidies for evaluation of these spaces. Furthermore, the assessment of the built environment of these buildings takes into account not only the traditional architectural concept of the library, but also how these spaces can absorb new digital resources, formatting projectual recommendations designed to create a network of information in museums linked to the industrial and rail heritage of Sao Paulo and the installation of hybrid libraries. Thus, the goal is to evaluate the existing spatial conditions of libraries in museums and their operation, and propose a possible design and technological support tool in the Brazilian museological context.
