Abstract

Foods like common beans and rice are primary source of nutrients, being among the most important food in the Brazilian's population diet, and being recognized for the high nutritional value of their products. The Vale do Ribeira, São Paulo State has one of the largest concentrations of Atlantic Forest in the State as well as natural environmental conditions that promote proper development of the rice culture. In this sense, research that attempts to maintain and preserve regionally important cultivated genotypes are strategies for environmental conservation and strengthen the regional economy. Based on the assumption, the present study aims to characterize, evaluate and training a germplasm bank of rice genotypes collected in the "Vale do Ribeira". For that, collecting in rural properties, "caiçaras" communities and maroon communities in the "Vale do Ribeira" will be held. Subsequently, these genotypes are multiplied. The assessment and characterization of rice genotypes will occur at the Experimental Farm of Universidade Estadual Paulista, Registro Campus. Monitoring will be conducted to crop emergence; period for flowering and maturity of panicles; vegetative morphological characterization of plants, valued at total production of fresh and dry matter of shoots; plant height; degree of lodging; nutritional status of the genotypes, monitoring of chlorophyll content; number of stems and panicles per area; total number of grains per panicle; 100-grain weight, hectoliter weight, determining the nutritional content of macro and micronutrients in the grains, grain yield and milling yield of genotypes. The average data, the characteristics evaluated, will be subjected to analysis of variance by F test and the means were compared by Skott Knott test at 5% using the computational package Genes. (AU)
