Abstract

The resources of the Institutional Technical Reserve of the FOB-USP 2014 exercise, we will be used to support the infrastructure of the new building of the Vivarium FOB, which will house the animals used in several lines of research attend the standards.The maintenance of the animals in this new building will be exclusively in ventilated racks, which is a control system of air injection and withdrawal of individual mini-isolators that are home to animals and experiments in this system results in optimization of physical spaces; environments without odors; contaminants and allergens; reducing costs of air conditioning systems; comfort for the animals in accordance with current legislation; and saving electricity. However, for proper functioning of the system, without prejudice to the welfare of animals as well as the results of research projects must operate continuously, so as not to limit the inflow of air, creating potential conditions of hypoxia, as well as not harming the elimination of volatile components and CO2 generated inside the mini-isolators.This support will be used to acquire a generator of energy, and 50 mini-isolators for proper maintenance of the animals within the ventilated racks, thus meeting the infrastructure needs of the animal facilities for the development of animal research in the FOB.
