The theoretical dimension of domain analysis in Brazilian LIS Scientific literature

Abstract

Although it can be observed a growing theoretical and methodological importance of domain analysis in Information Science nowadays, there is no conceptual consensus about what a scientific domain or even what a domain analysis is. This subject is present in LIS Graduate programs in Brazil as well as in the Research Group no.7 of the Brazilian Society for Information Science - ANCIB but there is no methodological or theoretical systematization od the conceptions of domain analysis in the LIS scientific environment in Brazil what leads to the need to investigate how this community conceives and operates domain analysis. For that, a subject search will be made in BRAPCi databasis, ENANCIBs proceedings and ISKO Brasil congresses proceedings and the Capesp dissertations and thesis databasis, based on the incidence of the terms domain and domain-analysis in the title, abstract or keyword of the papers. Data will be analyzed under two perspectives: a content analysis (Bardin, 2009) for the definitions presented in the papers and a bibliometric analysis, in order to characterize author and co-authorships, author and keyword networks and documentary forms.
