Abstract

The ethanol consumption is serious public health problem with high social and economic burden. Currently, emphasis is given to the ethanol effects in the common integument, specifically on the healing process of the skin. Another factor that affects the healing process is aging, since the elderly is more susceptible to changes in the tissue repair process. Evaluate ethanol on the skin wound healing in UChB adult and senior rats. 40 male rats, adults, and 40 male elderly UChB rats divided into four experimental groups underwent surgical aggression in the anterior region of the abdomen will be used: G1, adult rats with water; G2 adult rats with water and 10% ethanol; G3 aged rats with water and G4 aged rats with water and 10% ethanol evaluated at 4, 7, 14 and 21 days after surgery. It will be evaluated tissue hydroxyproline, cytokines TGF-², IL-1, IL-6, VEGF and KGF, the biomechanics of healing and histopathology (presence, character and intensity of inflammation, presence and intensity of the vascularization process, neovascularization and epithelialization).
