Abstract

The Zeta sizer Nano ZS90 is useful for the characterization of micro and nanostructured disperse systems, including emulsions, microemulsions, liposomes, solid lipid systems and others. It is the only commercial instrument capable of measuring the size, zeta potential and molecular weight in a single, compact unit. These measurements are important for the development and characterization of compositions for encapsulation of essential oils, herbal extracts and others natural active ingredients (goals of our research group), and also of synthetic compounds, colloidal dispersions and others; which can be correlated with product stability. The system will serve the needs of our research group (FAPESP Grants 2014/15905-1 and JP 2011/10333-1), and also of researchers and graduate students of FCFRP/USP; and of other State and Interstate institutions, that develop research with disperse systems, fulfilling in this way its multiuser purpose.
