Extracting properties of the Quark Gluon Plasma from RHIC and LHC data

Abstract

The study of the Quark Gluon Plasma is important in itself because its propertiesreflect fundamental characteristics of the strong interactions which are yet poorlyunderstood. In addition, this study can benefit from other areas such as LatticeQuantum Chromodynamics and gauge-gravity duality as well as benefit them. It isalso relevant to understand phenomena in cosmology and astrophysics (early universe, compact stars, cosmic rays). The objective of this project is to extract properties of the Quark Gluon Plasmafrom data obtained at RHIC (acelerator located near New York-USA) and LHC (coliderat CERN-Switzerland), using relativistic viscous hydrodynamics. The team involves five researchers used to work together: Drs.J.-Y.Ollitrault(France), M.Luzum (Spain),J.Noronha-Holster (U.S.A.) as well as from Brazil, theproponent Dr.F.Grassi and Dr.Gardim.
