Abstract

It is intended to study the mechanisms of natural immunity which provide protection against Pulmonary Paracoccidioidomycosis and correlate them with the phenomena of adaptive immunity which subsequently establish themselves. The effects of laminin will be studied, on the depletion in vivo of IL-4, IL-12, IFN-g, PMN leucocytes, T CD4 and CD8 cells, in addition to the administration of recombinant IL-12. We will use animals that are resistant and susceptible to the fungus, athymic, euthymic and with deletion of genes (KO for ag cl I, II, IL-4, IL-12). Parameters of natural immunity (chemokines, cytokines, inflammatory cells) will be correlated with those of acquired immunity (cellular and humoral) after several treatments, in different phases after pulmonary infection.
