Abstract

In recent decades, Brazilian social work policies have gone through major changes and become an important employability field for Psychology. In this field, thousands of psychologists are called to intervene in the relations that the users of Sistema Único de Assistência Social - SUAS (Unified Social Work System) establish with their relatives, their communities and other public services located in their territories. They are called to strengthen relations, create new sociability spaces, articulate networks, produce "autonomous subjects". Therefore, in this research, my aim is to discuss how these professionals are experiencing the entry in this "new" field. More specifically, I aim to describe and analyse the discourses and practices of psychologists who work in social services about their roles in SUAS, the difficulties, conflicts and contradictions of their work, the practices and intervention strategies they have been developing as well as educational models that consider the specificities of the work in social policies. To achieve these goals, I will undertake a literature review on the subject, interview psychologists and do an ethnographic research in a social service located in the metropolitan region of Sao Paulo. My expectation is that this research will contribute to a critical reflexion on what Psychology has been doing and what it wants to do in SUAS, as well as to the construction of new social technologies. Besides that, I believe it will contribute to (re)think and (re) evaluate the educational models used to form these professionals. (AU)
