Abstract

This project intends to understand the movement of construction of Social Cognitive Theory (SCT) as a diverse perspective from Behavior Analysis, and its integration in the Brazilian scenario. Two studies will be developed: a theoretical and an empirical one. The theoretical one will be conducted in order to follow the movement of the discussion of ideias between Albert Bandura and his critics, the theorists from Behavior Analysis. This will be made by means of a spreadsheet organizing the scientific papers related to this topic, with the aim to identify the critic's affiliation to radical behaviorism, whether the text criticizes or defends SCT, the focused construct, etc. Then, an analysis of the identified topics will be made considering Bandura's ideas which were criticized, as well as his eventual response to the critics. Besides, Brazilian journals will be empirically researched in order to comprehend the integration of Bandura's ideias into the Brazilian context. This will be a search for evidences of the integration of his ideas through the citations in papers along the time. These studies will allow an unprecedented reading of the dialogue between both theoretical references. This contribution undoubtedly extrapolates the national scenario, once there is no similar analysis found in the literature of both psychological perspectives. Thus, the accomplishment of this project, once executed, will bring advances in the knowledge of the history of psychology. Furthermore, it will offer contributions for psychology in general. (AU)
