Participative model for evaluation of comfort conditions in open urban spaces

Abstract

This research proposal aims at investigating the confort relations, applied to the open spaces in the Campus da Cidade Universitaria Armando Salles Oliveira (CUASO), through evaluation using a participative model. The objective is to ascertain the users' perception of the open spaces with regards to the environmental conditions (thermal, acoustic, illumination and ergonomics). Climate data collected in situ will be correlated with those from physical characterization of the environments and the subjective responses from users - acquired remotely through a mobile application. The goals are: 1. External environment characterization chart for CUASO, calssified by physical aspects and uses. 2. Climate characterization for CUASO through new surveys and characterization of their representativeness in comparison with historic series. 3. Development of a mobile application / system for acquisition of data pertaining to users' environment perception. 4. Use of the application in a trial-research for testing and posterior correlation with physical and climate characterization. 5. Analysis of the procedures adopted, for posterior development of a network for data acquisition and making the application / collected data available to the USP community. The process developed will be a subsidy for future researches in using the participative model, with remote data acquisition for the evaluation of comfort conditions in open urban spaces. (AU)
