Abstract

The international importance of the Olympic Games is evidenced by the increased participation of athletes and nations, interest of the media and the magnitude of the financial amounts involved. In this context, planning, execution, control and evaluation processes are linked to the legacy of the realization of mega sport events, whether social, cultural, environmental, political, economic or athletic, which although widely mentioned, are still part of the known unknowns of this process and require further research. It is therefore, necessary to research how the Olympic Games contribute to the development of the pillars which supports the sport development of a country, and more particularly, the host country. Among these pillars is the education and qualification of sports coaches. This research aims to identify the legacy of the Olympic Games - Rio 2016, for training and improvement of coaches and students of physical education courses. We will use the qualitative method of documentary analyses, characterized by a systematic procedure to review, classify and evaluate of the content of printed and online documents collected. Complementary, interviews will be made with individuals related to organizations of sports and education in Brazil. The results should indicate, which are effectively the actions of education and training of sports coaches, related to the Olympic Games. The results obtained will establish the discussion considering the theoretical framework in the area, analyzing the educational and scientific impact of the Olympic Games - Rio 2016 for professionals in Brazil.
