Climate change impact on São Paulo's estuarine fauna at pertinent parameter ranges and spatial scales: the effects of temperature and pH on fiddler crab larval development

Grant number: 15/50300-6
Support Opportunities:Research Program on Global Climate Change - Regular Grants
Duration: May 01, 2016 - April 30, 2018
Field of knowledge:Biological Sciences - Zoology
Convênio/Acordo: Ohio State University
Principal Investigator:Tânia Marcia Costa
Grantee:Tânia Marcia Costa
Principal researcher abroad: Alvaro Montenegro
Institution abroad: Ohio State University, Columbus, United States
Host Institution: Instituto de Biociências (IB-CLP). Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP). Campus Experimental do Litoral Paulista. São Vicente , SP, Brazil

We propose to tackle both aspects of this problem using observations of physicochemical parameters, laboratory experiments and regional downscaling of future climate predictions. We plan to evaluate the impacts of ocean warming and ocean acidification on larvae of the fiddler crab Uca thayeri. (AU)
