Abstract
The algebra of GL(n)-invariants of several matrices over a field of characteristic zero is generated by traces of products of generic matrices. In the general case, the structure of this algebra is quite complicated and it lack ``good''{} properties. The conditions when this algebra is polynomial or complete intersection are well-known. We will consider the same problem for orthogonal and symplectic invariants of matrices. We will also study the mentioned problem for invariants of the generalized representations of quivers. (AU)
