Abstract

IBGE data indicate that Brazilian's children ages from five to nine years are shown overweight and obesity up stain of 34.8% among boys, and 32% among girls (BRASIL, 2010). The reflection of this reality appears in the diagnostics at increasingly early ages of children with typical diseases of adults, such as high cholesterol levels, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, resulting from a sedentary lifestyle. Regular exercise practices can fight various diseases, but the full development of Fundamental Motor Skills (FMS) that occurs from early childhood, may be required before engaging in an exercise or physical activity program. It is not yet established whether children with higher motor skill levels tend to be more physically active or if the "proficient" level enables economy of movement, reducing the energy expenditure. The impact of these findings could guide the practice of physical education, physical activity (PA) programs and upon the usual rates of overweight and pediatric obesity, so evident. Thus the main objective of this study is to estimate the energy expenditure (EE) at different stages of FMS and the impact on PA levels in students from elementary school. A sample of 200 elementary school children, of both sexes (6-10 years), will be assessed in two stages: the 1st stage - in anthropometric measurements and Skills Fundamental Motor Driven (FMSD) by application of TGMD-2 test for identifying the FMSC; In 2nd stage - will be evaluated the Fundamental Motor Skills Autonomous (FMSA), recorded from filming and estimated the EE by continuous accelerometry at different times, being given the EE (Kcal), MET and classification of AF level. Comparisons between GE and qualitative FMS levels (filming) and quantitative (TGMD-2) will be determined by descriptive and inferential statistics. All analyzes will be conducted in SPSS, version 17.0 (Inc., Chicago, IL, USA) with a predetermined level of significance (± = 0.05). (AU)
