Climate change adaptation by linear park design: regeneration project as a tool for prevention of environmental disasters

Abstract

The objective is the development of a Linear Park Plan to the Metropolitan Area of Campinas through an integrated project of adaptation. The purpose is to provide subsidies for discussion about climate change, resilient cities, and disaster prevention. This constitutes an opportunity for research groups in emergent centers such as National Center for Monitoring and Alerts National Disaster (CEMADEN). Basically, the guiding principle is the identification of disaster prevention scenarios in the area called Macro-Zone 1. The methodology involve describing specific situations using research tools like interviews, surveys, empirical observations, analytical description of cartography and urban development, considering different approaches and scales. In this context, it will be considered aspects related to climate, socioeconomic characteristics, environmental services and ecosystems. The study aims to capture the social and environmental patterns and possible changes that could occur with the implementation of a linear park in the region. We expect to describe a set of policies and adaptation measures, establishing relationships among interdependent units, aiming to build together with the local population an integrated prevention project.
