Abstract

Population aging is a prominent worldwide phenomenon. In this context, fragility is emerging as a public health priority, and strongly related to negative outcomes related to health, such as addiction, hospitalization, institutionalization, falls and death. The early detection of the fragility enables the implementation of actions and public policies directly influencing the improvement of people's quality of life in people with fragility. There are screening tools used worldwide, such as the Rapid Assessment Geriatric that with the widespread use in Brazil would facilitate the fragility of screening, as well as sarcopenia, cognition and nutrition, thereby assisting in the development of early intervention. Patients who have a chronic disease, such as chronic kidney disease (CKD) are more likely to become fragile and should receive special attention. After the release of the tool for widespread use in Brazil, there is the need to evaluate and test its applicability with the elderly who have CKD in order to encourage the exploitation of professionals working with this population. Thus, this study aims to provide the Rapid Geriatric Assessment for use in Brazil and to test the applicability of this important assessment in elderly patients with CKD. This is a methodological study of translation, cultural adaptation and validation of the instrument entitled "Rapid Geriatric Assessment" with users of primary care elderly health of the city of São Carlos, São Paulo. The study also includes the test the applicability of the instrument already validated with elderly patients with chronic kidney disease in pre-dialysis treatment or dialysis in São Carlos, São Paulo and Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais. The project was submitted to the Ethics Committee of the Federal University of São Carlos and will be implemented after the approval of the Committee by reading and signing the Consent and Informed by the participants.
