This research seeks to understand the social, economic and political of academic science of the United States of America (USA) on a consolidated transition to reattach the university as part of the production system in a process that began in the 1980s with the enactment of Bayh- Dole Act - Pre-law 96-517, patent law and Licensing, 1980. This law created a uniform patent policy among the many federal agencies that fund research in the United States allowing small businesses and non-profit organizations, including universities, retain ownership of inventions made with federal government funding for research programs. This understanding makes it possible to understand the structural changes underway in Brazil to search based on their specific characteristics, reshape the university following the model of the United States. Search understanding the role of academic intellectuals in this process whose central feature is the changing nature of his work with progressive predominance is the search marketing in order to increase the Brazilian industrial productivity and economic profitability of the country on the world stage. On the other hand, seeks to map the main internationalized research groups that are contributing to the increased profitability of the Brazilian economy and the production of social and technological innovation and a new paradigm of knowledge in partnership with national and international companies and researchers from USA. Based on the results of research seeks to contribute to the formulation of public policy research funding. (AU)
