Abstract

SUMMARYThe present Project deals with synthesis, characterization and uses of metal complexes for prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases, mainly the neglected diseases. Ligands like carboxylic acids and derivatives (aminoacids and ±-hydroxycarboxylic acids), amino-quinolines and derivatives, natural substances, sweetings and organic pharmaceutical drugs, which have been used for treatment of illness. The ligands will be used for treatment of illness. The ligands will be used as the anionic form or modified according to the convenience. Metal salts of Cu(II),Zn(II), Ag(I), Au(I) or (III), Pt(II), V(IV), Ti(IV) and Mo(IV) or (VI) will be also used. Choice of the metal ions will depend of the type of ligand, the selected disease and the characteristic of coordination of the ligands and the metal salts. The complexes will be characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV-vis and NMR spectroscopic techniques, thermogravimetric analysis, X-ray diffraction and others which will be necessary.The complexes will be used in solution to test their biological activities. The complexes which had showed activity will be studied to verify the mutagenicity and the mecanisms of action. (AU)
