Abstract

This proposal is focused on artistic production in the Brazilian colonial period. We departed from the study of the Regiments Book of Craftsmen of Lisbon 1572 (especially crafts related to the wood during the second half of the eighteenth century), seeking to recognize the longevity and importance of theoretical and practical knowledge based on artistic treaties from late Renaissance, on the matter required to the exams, from the criteria found in the Book of Regiments and the study of the collection of drawings of the National Library of Portugal.
