Abstract

This project intends to achieve the program of research scholarship (BEPE) in Portugal, in the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the New University of Lisbon (FCSHUNL), under the guidance of Prof. Dr. João Luís Lisboa, researcher at the International Cooperation Project in which my current research is, "The transatlantic circulation of printed material - the globalization of culture in the nineteenth century", whose coordination is done by Prof. Dr. Jean-Yves Mollier and Prof. Dr. Marcia Abreu, who guides my research in Brazil. During the internship, I will make a survey of secondary sources whose theme is focused on the presence of novels in Portugal in the range from 1789 to 1914, so I can later compare the data from Portugal with the one from Brazil. To do so, I will identify the novels with the higher success rate in Portugal at the period and lift the fortunes of Portuguese studies on the critical reception of such works - not only of successful novels, as well as those who had more modest impact. This information will be shared with the other researchers of the Thematic Group through photocopies and the subsequent inclusion of the information in the database organized by the research group. It is essential to research in the libraries of Universidade Nova de Lisboa, in the National Library of Portugal, Lisbon Municipal Newspaper Library, the Library of Art - Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the libraries of the University of Lisbon. And equally important is my participation in the project "Books and Reading", at the Centre for the History of Culture FCSHUNL, which Prof. Dr. João Luís Lisboa is responsible. (AU)
