Abstract

Introduction: Research with flower essence therapy in relieving pain, show that flower essences have an important role in the psychological perspective of pain control since that aid in relaxation, including relief from stress and anxiety. Objective: To analyze the effects of flower essences as non-pharmacological therapy during labor on pain perception, anxiety and stress responses clinics. Method: experimental clinical trial, randomized, double blind, controlled where it will be used for pre and post-intervention design with repeated measures between two groups of pregnant women: group 1 floral essences and group 2 placebo. The variables will be pain and anxiety assessed by visual analogue scale; through clinical assessment of vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse and respiration; hormones with the dosage of cortisol and beta-endorphin by salivary sample; Obstetrics: cervical dilation, height of fetal presentation, uterine contraction, elapsed time between the intervention and delivery and birth result, beyond the perinatal variables such as Apgar score and weight of the newborn. Expected results: Observing the numerous benefits of floral therapy and with scarcity of scientific studies, especially in obstetrics, it is expected with the results of this study shows one more non-pharmacological strategy for the relief of anxiety and pain during labor as incentive action to normal childbirth.
