Abstract

Affect is often the basis of social bonds and their durability influences the courses of lives. In this sense, it is important to understand the role played by the regulation of affect in human self-development and change. Perceived self-efficacy in emotion regulation contributes and facilitates to diverse social interactions and psicossocial adjustments. The Multidimensional Negative Emotions Self-Regulatory Efficacy Scale e Regulatory Emotional Self-efficacy Beliefs (temporally named in Portuguese: Escala de Autoeficácia para Regulação Emocional) has been considered valid and robust in several contexts as a valid instrument to assess the perceived capability to express positive emotions (POS), and to manage negative emotions. (NEG). The objective of the present work is to introduce to the Brazilian scenario a study of adaptation and validation of this instrument, as well as its psychometric studies. In order to do so, two studies will be developed. The first one will consist in the translation and back translation of the scale, besides its pilot study and search of the content evidence validity. For the pilot study, the sample will have 30 teenagers aged 14 to 16, from both sexes, and from a public and a private school from the interior of São Paulo State. The judges will be four Ph.D in Psychology with expertise in instruments elaboration. The internal structure, as well as the accuracy estimate of the scale will be searched in the second study. 1000 teenagers aged 14 to 18 from São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Pará will take part in the study.
