Abstract

The objective of this study was to test the scientific and technical feasibility of an ultra-functional innovative dentifrice by evaluating the anti-caries effect of this dentifrice with 1100 and 5000 ppm F (NaF), pH 4.5 and EGCG (MMP inhibitor) in the remineralization of caries in dentin in vitro study. For this, 144 blocks of bovine root dentin (4x4) will be selected by surface microhardness (initial SMH) and divided into 12 groups: Group 1 - placebo dentifrice pH 7; Group 2 - placebo dentifrice pH 4.5; Group 3 - placebo dentifrice pH 7 with 0.61% EGCG; Group 4 - placebo dentifrice pH 4.5 with 0.61% EGCG; Group 5 - dentifrice with 1100 ppm F neutral pH without EGCG; Group 6 - dentifrice with 1100 ppm F neutral pH with EGCG 0.61%; Group 7 - 1100 ppm F dentifrice pH 4.5 without EGCG; Group 8 - dentifrice with 1100 ppm F pH 4.5 with 0.61% EGCG; Group 9 - dentifrice 5000 ppm F Neutral pH without EGCG; Group 10 - dentifrice 5000 ppm F neutral pH with EGCG 0.61%; Group 11 - dentifrice 5000 ppm F pH 4.5 with EGCG 0.61% Group 12 - dentifrice 5000 ppm F pH 4.5 without EGCG. The samples will undergo a pH cycling for 7 days and will be exposed to the dentifrice twice a day, immediately before (time point: 0) and after demineralization (time point: 6h) using brushing machine, toothbrush (Curaprox) and dentifrices tested (2x15 s, 150 g loading). After the challenges, the final surface microhardness (final SMH) will be determined for the calculation of the percentage of surface microhardness variation. In the sequence, the blocks will be sectioned to realize the internal microhardness. Also, a market trend study will be conducted through a focus group study to evaluate the technical feasibility analysis of the ultra-functional dentifrice. The data will be submitted to statistical analysis (p <0.05). (AU)
