Abstract

With the objective to reduce the negative impact of brucellosis in the public health, in the productive chains of meat and milk, to supply he consumers with animal products with quality and to promote national pekar competitiveness, in the international market, it was instituted by the Ministry of Agriculture, the National Program of Control and erradication of Brucellosis and Tuberculosis. Because the high cost of the action strategies, to reach the objectives of the program, it is important to study the epidemiological situation of the disease in the bovine breeding of Tocantins State, with the proposal to adopt the best strategies to create a rational mechanism of verification of the effectiveness of the implemented actions. Therefore, a partnership was composed involving the Ministry of Agriculture, the Farming Defense Agency of Tocantins State and the Department of Medicine Preventive Veterinary and Animal Health of FMVZ-USP. The Tocantins State will be divided in homogeneous regions wich will be epidemiological characterized and studied the prevalence.
