Abstract

The project consists on the preparation of new rhenium complexes with potential medicinal application. Complexes containing the rhenium radioisotopes 186Re and 188Re are used as radiopharmaceuticals in the nuclear medicine, as they are emitters of β radiation with appropriate characteristics for the clinical use, in the treatment of some types of cancer. The potentiality of medicinal application for rhenium complexes is a stimulant factor in the search for new composites, beyond the academic aspect itself, which involves their highly diversified coordination chemistry.
